About Me
I live in the village of Sainte-Pétronille on l'île d'orléans (Island of Orleans) just outside of Quebec City with my wonderful wife and children. I have lived here since August 2011.
I grew up in the village of Ucluelet, BC on Canada's west coast. Some of my fondest memories are the moments I spent with friends free to roam the village and its surroundings on our bikes.
My earliest memories of computing date back to about 1985. I spent countless hours coding the simple block graphics that I had carefully prepared on graph paper. I was genuinely fascinated. Unfortunately, our high school merely offered one or two computing classes and not a single senior had anything positive to say about them. This led me to postpone any formal exploration of computing sciences for many years as I pursued other interests.
With high school complete, university was my ticket to the big city. In 1995, I graduated with a Bachelor Degreein Cell Biology and Genetics from UBC. In 1997, I completed a post baccalaureate diploma in Clinical Cytogenetics at BCIT. My career started at the Clinical Cytogenetics laboratory at OHSU in Portland Oregon.
Many years later, my curiosity for computers continued to linger. Shortly after settling into Portland, I learnt of a terrific educational benefit - university classes at Portland State University for merely $40. I leapt at the chance to take some introductory Computer Science classes. In no time I was hooked and found myself spending many Saturday mornings in the computer lab. My passion for computing was reignited.
A few years later, in 2001, I returned to Vancouver to work part time and pursue a Masters Degree in Information Technology.
In 2007, I was hired by McKesson's Medical Imaging Group where I integrated their Radiology Information System into client ecosystems. In 2017, this division became a part of Change Healthcare. Craving a new challenge, in the summer of 2019 I joined Bell Canada's Business Markets team to work as an application developer.
